Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 1:00pm Outside the White House (1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington D.C.) As the LGBT community in the United States fights for legal equality, the LGBT community of Uganda fights for their right to live. MP David Bahati originally proposed what is now known as the “Kill the Gays Bill”, creating homosexuality in Uganda a crime ranging in punishment from seven years in prison to death. Those in danger also include any Ugandan citizen who fails to report a known homosexual. On Saturday, June 4th, 2011, we will stand in front of our nation’s political heart in establishment of our simple assertions: - Creating awareness of the support of the bill received by U.S. officials and American Evangelical leaders - Pushing the Uganda nationals here to cease to condone overseas actions - Urging U.S. politicians to take a strong official stance against the bill and remove all current aid to a nation that has so vehemently violated basic human rights Absolutely no civil rights victory in history would have been possible had the people waited for the government to move first.
