Winston-Salem, North Carolina to host first pride parade in over 15 years

Equality Winston-Salem will host WSPride2011 on October 15, 2011. This will be the first pride event held in Winston-Salem in over 15 years. Fundraising efforts leading up to the parade include a series of four Gay Bingo events in Winston-Salem. With great support from the community, the first Gay Bingo event held in February 2011, attracted a sellout crowd of 600 and raised over $12,000 toward pride efforts. More importantly, the event drew a diverse crowd of participants and sponsors—approximately half of those in attendance were straight allies.
