Released: 2002 Drama/Romance Based on the 1999 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Michael Cunningham, The Hours is a story of three generations of women who deal with suicide. Nicole Kidman won an Oscar at the 2003 Academy Awards for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf. Although mentioned in VERY FEW storyline's and reviews of this motion picture, it directly portrays the struggles of living "in the closet." The two earlier generations of women are conflicted and confused by their deep emotional and/or sexual feelings for their women friends, which directly result in suicide or suicide attempts and much depression. Meryl Streep portrays the 2001 generation of a lesbian woman struggling with her AIDS stricken best friend. The nine Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, are well deserved!
