![]() A message from Steve Clay and the Staff of the Vallarta Botanical Gardens regarding Diversity Day 2013 Our annual Diversity Day is back and presented by the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Our date is January 26th, 2013 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Diversity Day is the first among several events we have planned for the LGBT community of Puerto Vallarta for the New Year. We welcome our diverse community and others to enjoy the Vallarta Botanical Gardens and assist us in our local…not-for-profit fundraiser for the Gardens. Diversity Day is a ¨mix-in¨with the Gardens our weekend guests, but gays, lesbians, straights and everyone in between are encouraged to wear our ¨green t-shirts¨ or come in Western Wear in order for us to identify each other and to show a strong number of our supporters. Our T-Shirts will also be available for purchase at the event for $100 pesos. This years Diversity Day will be held on Saturday, January 26th, 2013. Beginning at 11:00 am and concluding at 9:00 pm. In our continuing effort to raise awareness to our supporters and our community. More information can be found by visiting our Facebook page: Diversity Day 2013. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the Gardens. The event will last all day ( until 900pm ) and will host several fun filled surprises throughout the day for the price of admission. Ticket prices are $250 pesos per person prior to January 15th and after are $300 pesos per person or at the gate. Your admission includes the following: entrance to the gardens, shuttle service (RT) from Vallarta, a welcome cocktail, line dancing lessons, tea dance, the river jamboree, vendor mart, speed dating, activities and workshops, our Botanical Beauty Facial bar and our famous, ¨Bonfire of the Vanities¨, sponsored by Xochodiva. Also don´t forget to visit our Mine at the gardens and look for jewels and other precious rocks Our theme this year is called, ¨Return to Brokeback Mountain¨. All guests that arrive in Western outfits will be given a door prize and we will also be hosting a ¨Hot Cowboy and Cowgirl Contest¨. So get your chaps, jeans and hats!!! Plus, we will be doing a sunset showing of the 3 time Academy Award film, ¨Brokeback Mountain¨. All donations from the event ticket sales, sponsors, and vendor mart table rentals are being donated directly to the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, a 501 © (3) non-profit organization. Sponosred bus transportation is being arranged with ticket purchase as well as other transportation can be arranged via public bus, taxi or personal vehicles. This not only a day to celebrate our diversity, but also a day to explore and enjoy the dozen of species of ferns, plants, bougainvillas, orchids and then take a swim in the Los Horcones River anytime during the days events or during our river jamoboree with our house DJ spinning the grooves! Our vendor mart will open at 1200 noon and will offer displays of merchandise from popular and well known local Vallarta businesses as well as fun activities like our popular ¨tortilla making ¨ workshop. Guided tours will be offered during the day. We will also be getting together outside the Hacienda de Oro for a group picture at 300 pm. Guests and members are invited to stay and dance into the night with our ¨Bonfire of the Vanities¨sponsored by Xochdiva. A huge bonfire, smores, music and dancing as the moon rises. Cash bar, our restaurant offering a delightful menú and special performances through out the day and night will be occuring. This will be one Mexican Country Hoedown you will not want to miss! Please note that ID is required of those patrons 18+ and older for the purchase of alcohol beverages. No outside beverages or food is allowed on the Gardens property. Gaytoursmexico by MMT is planning to have, at least, five national heats in Guadalajara, Merida, Mexico City, Quintana Roo, and Monterey. This will be the first national competition of this caliber looking for the best gay Mexican that embraces the values of Mr. Gay World and will be a spokesperson and champion in LGBT human rights. The mission of Mr. Gay World (MGW) is to advance national and international gay rights through education and public performance. MGW creates authentic leaders who will take responsibility, not only in his own community but on a global stage, speaking out for equal rights by inspiring those around him.
